Sometimes when things are handmade they don't turn out perfect, but it doesn't mean they can't still be put to good use.
 
All these discs have slight cosmetic imperfections in the wood grain which do not affect it's use.
 
We work hard to ensure we create as little waste as possible; so rather than 'disposing' of these by burning them in our log burner, we've decided to offer them to you instead with a discount in the hope they will find some loving new homes!!

This beautiful wood darning disc has been handcrafted by us in our Cornish workshop using locally-sourced spalted windfallen timber.
 
Just like a standard darning mushroom, but the absence of a stem makes it a more ergonomic mending tool.
 
Perfect for smaller repairs and fixing hard-to-reach areas such as: pockets, sleeves, socks, cuffs, narrow trouser legs (including skinny jeans & leggings) and tight areas on kids clothes.
 
To use place the fabric over the Mending Macaron and secure everything in place by pushing the metal spring into the groove on the side of the disc.
 
Whilst stitching hold the disc in the palm of your hand, or if you'd prefer rest it on a flat surface.
 
To remove the garment from the Mending Macaron, simply pull the spring away from the groove.

Slightly domed top for darning heels, crotches, armpits, elbows and knees or wherever the fabric of the garment is shaped.
 
Use the 'bite' style notch on the side of the disc to help you remove the spring whilst not in use.
 
Supplied with a beautiful stainless steel spring which fits perfectly into the groove. It's earth-friendly because they last like forever, plus it looks really darn cool. Custom-made for us, right here in the U.K.
 
Each Mending Macaron a smooth organic surface, rounded edges and natural unwaxed finish. They all have their own unique character with different grain patterns.
 
Timber
Our current batch have been created using some stunning spalted lacewood timber sourced from a beautiful walled garden in Sidmouth, Devon U.K (just 90 miles away) - this was a windfallen tree that sadly came down in a storm in Dec 2022. 
 
Spalted timber features striking visual patterns, such as black lines, brown and grey streaks. The random marbled effect of spalting, alongside the natural grain pattern of lacewood timber creates discs is with immense character.
