A classic style darning mushroom with fixed handle, handcrafted from scratch by us in our Cornish workshop using locally-sourced windfallen Beech timber.
 
Use this tool to darn, patch or mend holes, tears, worn-out spots or stains on any treasured garments in need of a little TLC.
 
A darning tool like our SHROOMiNi mushroom is useful for holding the fabric in place whilst you make your mend – it holds the fabric slightly taut keeping an even tension as you stitch, and means you can put down your work whenever you need to with none of the repositioning faff when you’re ready to begin again.

Timber
Handcrafted using locally sourced windfallen hardwood timber.
 
Our very first collection of SHROOMiNis have been created from Cornish Beech wood sourced from the world-class exotic gardens of the Caerhays Castle estate, set on the south coast of Cornwall near St Austell.
 
After falling in a storm this tree was saved by a Cornish sawmill who carefully kiln-dried the timber before arriving at our workshop.
 
To Use
Simply place the fabric over the top and secure everything in place by pushing the metal spring into the groove on the side of the cap.
 
Whilst stitching hold the stem in your hand, or if you’d prefer cup the palm of your hand under the cap.
 
To remove the garment from the SHROOMiNi pull the spring away from the groove to release the fabric.

SHROOMIE vs. SHROOMiNi – which one is for you?
The SHROOMiNi is the little sister to our larger SHROOMIE 2 in 1 Darner – the cap on the SHROOMIE is larger, but the bigger cap and chunky style stem means overall it’s a heavier darning tool.
 
If you’re looking for a slender, lightweight darning mushroom with the added benefit of a grooved cap, then the SHROOMiNi is for you.
 
On the other hand, if you prefer a freestanding mushroom to allow you to stitch with both hands free with the bonus of a removable cap that acts like a Mending Macaron, then the SHROOMIE is the one you want!
