About our Speedarner Mending Loom

This creative repair loom makes visible mending quicker and simpler than traditional freehand darning.

With classic darning you have to concentrate on weaving over and under individual threads, but the Speedarner will do that part of the process for you. By simplifying the weaving process it makes mending more relaxing and enjoyable, especially for beginners.

Inspired by the iconic design of the original 1940’s Speedweve machine, this tiny loom creates neat patches over small holes, stubborn stains, or worn-out spots to revive and transform much-loved garments.

Perfect for visible repairs to everyday garments such as: denim jeans, cotton tees, cashmere jumpers and knitted socks.

You can repair chunky knitted garments as well as fine merino baselayers, however, we do not recommend using this tool to repair stretchy activewear or outdoor/waterproof gear.

The Speedarner mending loom will help you create a 'patch' darn also known as surface darning - think of it like patching over a hole on a pair of jeans with a scrap of fabric. Your 'patch' darn will be stitched in place on all four sides and will cover the hole by floating over the surface. It can not be used to create 100% invisible repairs or perform any other type of darning technique e.g. classic darning, honeycomb darning or duplicate stitch.

Made in Cornwall

Slowly handcrafted with care by us in our Cornish (U.K.) workshop using locally-sourced materials to bring you maximum mending joy. These are not just 'assembled in the U.K' we make all the parts from start to finish right here in Cornwall (everything except the coil spring which is custom-made by a specialist U.K. manufacturer). A true labour of love!
